EVault, A Seagate Company, Expands EVault® Remote Disaster Recovery Service For Cross-Platform, Cloud-Connected Data Protection
New Disaster Recovery Capabilities Leverage the Cloud to Deliver Enterprise Class Cross-Platform Critical Systems Recovery Management to SMBs in US and Canada
SANTA CLARA, CA, - August 10, 2010 - EVault™, Inc., a Seagate Company (NASDAQ:STX), today announced the expansion of its EVault Remote Disaster Recovery (RDR) Service to further extend EVault’s Cloud-Connected storage solutions across multi-platform environments. The enhanced Cloud-based disaster recovery managed service now allows mid-sized companies to remotely protect and recover critical servers, applications and information running on a range of operating systems, including IBM i, IBM AIX, and Linux, in addition to Windows and VMware. EVault RDR seamlessly integrates with EVault’s range of EVault Cloud-Connected storage management offerings to give SMB customers in both the United States and Canada the benefit of affordable, professional grade Cloud-based backup and disaster recovery.
EVault RDR is a Cloud-based managed service that helps organizations quickly recover critical applications after a disaster by restoring their applications within an EVault® data center. Employees then remotely access and use those applications in a secure virtual environment. With a team of experts guiding the planning, protection and recovery process, customers can be sure operations will run smoothly even if they experience a site disaster. The new release extends the disaster recovery offering to cover heterogeneous environments normally deployed by mid-market companies. The integrated solution has been resoundingly embraced by the market – in the period from July, 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010, EVault’s customer base using the EVault RDR service increased more than 130 percent year over year.
"Business continuity and disaster recovery are high priorities for SMBs, but many lack the infrastructure and resources to properly maintain a secondary, offsite location. In addition, IT investments in traditional enterprise DR service providers are often cost prohibitive and inflexible to meet the specific needs of SMBs," said Brad Nisbet, program manager for IDC's Storage and Data Management Services. "Cloud-based DR services, such as EVault's EVault RDR, offer SMBs a flexible and economical offsite alternative to protect data and systems operations in the event of a disaster."
EVault Remote Disaster Recovery service is a seamless extension of EVault’s Cloud-Connected EVault backup and recovery services. As a Cloud-based managed service, EVault RDR customers are guided by a team of EVault disaster recovery experts through testing and execution of the disaster recovery process, eliminating time-consuming self-configuration. If disaster strikes, EVault DR experts work with EVault’s trusted rock-solid technology platform and top tier SAS 70 Type II certified data center facilities to give customers quick access to their production systems. EVault‘s EVault RDR facilities feature a grid storage platform that provides best-in-class redundancy and performance, high availability, virtualization, and superior storage efficiency to dramatically reduce the cost of achieving world-class disaster recovery.
“Small businesses often overlook data protection and disaster recovery as key components of their business applications strategy,” said George Hoenig, vice president of products at EVault. “A holistic data protection framework begins with securely backing up and replicating data to a Cloud-Connected infrastructure. The critical value of the framework lies in its ability to make data and operations securely and readily available to businesses from a remote solution in the event of a disaster. With EVault RDR, companies have a lifeline to a virtual copy of their data to keep the business running. The entire disaster recovery process is tested and documented, and it’s all managed by a team of seasoned disaster recovery experts.”
The EVault Remote Disaster Recovery service is available now. Pricing is dependent on the type and amount of servers, data and VPN connections, length of contract, etc. A SMB can purchase offsite disaster recovery protection starting at $250 per month for a single server.
