and collection services to a network of physical therapy clinics
in California and Arizona
PRN's AIX server runs VantageMed's Medoccur, proprietary practice
management software, storing about 30GB of patient data. PRN's access
to that information is the company's primary asset and must be online
and accessible, as well as HIPAA compliant. James Flanagan, PRN's
network administrator, needed to shorten their back-up window and
found that with tape, recovering files didn't always work. To further
complicate matters, Flanagan monitors the AIX server and its backup
from about 500 miles south in Carlsbad, Calif.
